Vortex Identification in a Free-Surface Flow Problem Solved Using SPH

نویسندگان

چکیده

This article focuses on vortex structure identification methods and their implementation into smoothed particle hydrodynamics (SPH) framework. The most common criteria based the local velocity gradient tensor analysis like Q-criterion, Δ-criterion, λ 2 -criterion are introduced together with for SPH data. A two-dimensional ‘double dam break’ problem was chosen as a test case because it results in violent transient free-surface flow emerging vanishing eddies of various sizes intensities. Q-criterion Δ-criterion were virtually identical, whereas appeared to be restrictive identification, so best suppressing incorrect findings due numerical solution imperfection. therefore conducted using -criterion.

Stokes-Flow Problem Solved Using Maple

An unusual boundary-value problem that arises in a fluidmechanical application is solved to high precision, as a challenge problem in scientific computation. A second-order differential equation must be solved on (0,∞), subject to boundary conditions that specify only the asymptotic behaviour of the solution at the two ends of the solution domain. In addition, the solution is required to high a...

Numerical investigation of free surface flood wave and solitary wave using incompressible SPH method

Simulation of free surface flow and sudden wave profile are recognized as the most challenging problem in computational hydraulics. Several Eulerian/Lagrangian approaches and models can be implemented for simulating such phenomena in which the smoothed particle hydrodynamics method (SPH) is categorized as a proper candidate. The incompressible SPH (ISPH) method hires a precise incompressible hy...

A New 3D Parallel SPH scheme for Free Surface Flows

The focus of the research activity is on the Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH) method and its applications to environmental flow problems. The purpose is to model fully three-dimensional non-hydrostatic free surface flows and impact problems with the SPH method applying it to inviscid and viscous fluids. After a thorough literature review of the SPH method, the research work is divided up i...

The main purpose of this paper is to introduce a boundary layer analysis for the fluid flow andheat transfer characteristics of an incompressible nanofluid flowing over a permeable isothermalsurface moving continuously. The resulting system of non-linear ordinary differential equations issolved numerically using the fifth–order Runge–Kutta method with shooting techniques usingMatlab and Maple s...
